Ages 12-17 JUST GO SAILING Youth Member
Kids can gain valuable sailing experience and have fun attending Community Sailing’s JUST GO SAILING program. Youngsters, age 12-17, that have previously participated in a Community Sailing class and earned at least a Solo rating are invited to participate in this program. Youngsters will sail in a supervised (semi-unstructured) atmosphere and can practice skills that they learned in Community Sailing’s Learn-To-Sail and Advanced Sailing classes. Kids can sail individually or with other youngsters attending this program. This program provides hands on tiller time and will enable youngsters to experience various wind and lake conditions. Youngsters are invited to attend shore schools, go racing, cross the lake to the swim beach with other junior sailors in a flotilla or just go sailing by themselves. Solo and Advanced Solo rated junior sailors will sail Vanguard Optimist Prams and have the opportunity to earn a Helmsperson rating. Helmsperson rated junior sailors can move up to higher performance sailboats. Advanced ratings can be awarded to junior sailors based on their on-the-water sailing skills and other testing. This program is for serious junior sailors that want to improve their skills, move up to more complex sailboats and cruise, race and have fun.
Parents of junior sailors interested in the JUST GO SAILING program should call Steven Frank, 303-757-7718, to discuss this program prior to signing up.
PREREQUISITE: Solo or Advanced Solo or Helmsperson rating required. Tuition (5-day session): $450
