Kids ! Ages 10-17 ADVANCED SAILING
This course is intended as a follow-up to our intermediate sailing course. The advanced sailing course will continue to strengthen basic skills and sailing efficiently on any point of sail. Junior sailors will refine tacking, jibing, sailing up-wind, sailing on all points of sail, sail trim, sailing in moderate and heavy winds and heeling under control. This is an advanced oriented sailing course with emphasis on making the boat go fast! Junior sailors will learn high performance boat handling skills and the responsibilities of skippering. Students will progress to other larger and more high performance rigged sailboats. Community Sailing’s higher performance sailboats include Butterfly's, Force 5’s, Lasers, Fireballs, Day Sailors, Snipes, 470’s and a variety of other boats. Program hours are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Instruction, sailboats and safety equipment are included. Bring bathing suit, towel, and change of clothes, sunscreen, lunch and drinking water. Call Community Sailing of Colorado, Ltd. at 303-757-7718 to schedule lessons or for more information. Helmsperson rated sailors will begin to use jibs, spinnakers, reading telltales, learning navigation and anchoring.
