Community Sailing of Colorado, Ltd. (CSC) operates sailing, racing and windsurfing camps and programs for youth between the ages of 8 and 17. CSC host participants on Cherry Creek Reservoir in Aurora and Union Lake in Boulder. Learn more at www.communitysailing.org.
Job Descriptions:
CSC seeks interns for volunteer, part-time positions – Marketing/PR Intern and Administrative Intern. Flexible work schedule is available with option to telecommute. Dependable, organized and detail-oriented candidates who can work independently are best suited for these positions. You’ll have a great hands-on experience that will bulk up your portfolio and enhance CSC’s community presence. No sailing experience is required.
- 1. Marketing/PR Internship
- Graphic design and applicable software experience required.
- Work with CSC staff to brainstorm and develop marketing/PR strategy
- Conduct research and implement a survey program
- Develop comprehensive promotional package, including updates logo, brochures, Web site, postcards and trade show materials
- Write new/revised content for brochures, Web site, postcard, etc.
- Design new templates for print and electronic newsletters
- Write press releases, media advisories, articles and grant-writing submissions
- Create a comprehensive media kit and conduct pro-active media relations
- Research, compile and manage media lists and community outreach databases
- Develop and implement an outreach strategy for local schools and youth-oriented organizations (YMCA, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, JCC, etc.)
- Research and advise on advertising and promotional options
- Participate in tradeshows/special events and fundraising efforts
- 2. Administrative Internship
- Microsoft Office software experience required.
- Must be organized
- Work with CSC staff to run the non-profit organization in the office, including responding to emails, answering or returning calls, handle walk ins, etc.
- Handle communications with clients, donors, volunteers, parents and sailing staff, including sending out monthly e-newsletters and annual print newsletters.
- Update and maintain the CSC website.
- Event planning
- Assist in grant writing
- Participate in tradeshows/special events and fundraising efforts
Qualifications:
- Candidates for degrees in journalism, English or public relations and be able to receive college credit for the internship. No PR or marketing experience required.
- Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Must know how to conduct Internet-based research and use Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel and Publisher.
- Prefer candidates who can commit to at least a four- to six- month term.
Additional Requirements:
Laptop computer, cellular phone, driver’s license and transportation.
