Seamanship and Voyaging

Age 10-17

This class is for junior sailors that have previously attended a Community Sailing program and are dreaming of going around the world on a sailboat; or just want to cruise on lakes and coastal waters.  Junior Sailors will begin to learn how to prepare and sail long distances on a sloop.  We will sail Community Sailing’s 26’ sloop, “Mac” in this Seamanship and Voyaging program.  Subjects covered will include crew teamwork, boat preparation, proficient sailing on all 5 points of sail, sail trim, anchoring, docking, heaving-to, boat maintenance, stowing lines, navigation and a lot more.  This class is limited to four junior participants.  This program is for serious junior sailors that want to begin learning big boat handling.

Maximum of 5 participants.

Prerequisite:  Solo or Advanced Solo or Helmsperson rating required.
