Beginner Level

Description
This course consists of two, 3-hour classes. Start your wing journey on stable boards with fins (not foils) so you can focus on building strong fundamentals before adding the complexity of the foil. This introductory session emphasizes balance, efficient wing handling, steering control, and confidently getting underway. You’ll practice staying upwind, making smooth 180-degree turns, and developing essential safety and self-rescue skills.
In your second session, take the next step and transition onto boards with foils. In this progression-focused session, you’ll build dynamic balance skills specific to foiling, develop strong foil safety awareness, and learn proper techniques for controlled lift-off. With guided coaching you will be working your way to your first flights above the water.
Location: Soda Lake
Day: Tuesdays
Time: 4:30pm – 7:30pm
What do we need to bring?
- Closed-toed shoes are recommended (If you choose to go barefoot for windsurfing or wing foiling, please understand the risk of injury with rocks, sticks, etc.)
- Bring your own water for drinking
- Remove all jewelry (especially rings)
- Long hair should be secured in a low ponytail or braid
- If you already have your own PFD (or impact vest for wing foiling), you’re welcome to wear it. Otherwise, we’ll provide you with a PFD.
- Towel
- Sunscreen
- Wear a bathing suit or clothes you don’t mind getting wet in. Colorado weather can change quickly. Cloud cover, rain, and a windy day can suddenly feel cold. Please pack a sweatshirt, or rain pants/rain jacket for blocking wind, and a dry change of clothes to warm up after the session.
- You may want to wear a wetsuit or wool base layers if the air or water temps are chilly. (We have loaner wetsuits that have been donated, but we cannot guarantee available sizes).
- Optional knee pads
