This past weekend, Community Sailing of Colorado hosted the 2019 Rocky Mountain Junior Olympic Sailing Festival at the Cherry Creek Reservoir with over 40 junior sailors from Colorado and Utah. The c420 and Laser Radial classes finished with eight all over races and the RS Tera and Opti fleets with seven. Friday the event hosted a racing clinic and practice races for all competitors. This was followed by the opening ceremonies later that evening.

Saturday and Sunday the conditions proved to be tough with light wind and heavy chop. Competitors sailed a modified triangle course with races lasting just over 30 minutes depending on the conditions. We had close racing both days with many tight finished. Saturday after racing competitors came together for a fun night of comradery and BBQ. Sunday’s events included a raffle and the awards ceremony.

A big thank you to all of our sailors, parents, coaches, and volunteers for a great event. And, congratulations to all junior sailors who participated in the event!
