Beginner Level

Description
Join us for once-weekly, 3-hour sessions over 4 weeks. These classes are designed for adults who have no previous sailing experience or those who haven’t sailed in a very long time and are looking for a refresher. This class covers the fundamentals of sailing through a hands-on approach. Participants learn basic boat handling, rigging, terminology, steering, points of sail, and sail trim. Sailing on an 18ft boat with the instructor makes for an easy introduction where participants try their hand at the various sailing tasks onboard. Sign up solo or with a group of friends.
Location: Boulder Reservoir
Day: Tuesdays – 4 week session | Wednesdays – 4 week session
Time: 5pm – 8pm (June, July, & August) | 4:30pm – 7:30pm (September)
What do we need to bring?
- Closed-toed shoes are required
- Bring your own water for drinking
- Remove all jewelry (especially rings)
- Gloves are recommended: bike gloves and gardening gloves work great
- Long hair should be secured in a low ponytail or braid
- If you already have your own PFD, you’re welcome to wear it. Otherwise, we’ll provide you with one.
- Towel
- Sunscreen
- Wear a bathing suit or clothes you don’t mind getting wet in. Colorado weather can change quickly. Cloud cover, rain, and a windy day can suddenly feel cold. Please pack a sweatshirt, or rain pants/rain jacket for blocking wind, and a dry change of clothes if you wish.
What if there is Inclement Weather?
Weather in CO can be tricky and ever-changing. We will do our best to notify you at least 2 hours before class begins if we need to cancel.
