Beginner Level
Description
This camp is for beginning sailors or sailors continuing to fine tune basic skills. Campers will sail 2 or 3 to a boat in a small, age-appropriate Pram or Bug sailboat. This class emphasizes learning the basics, feeling comfortable on the water, and having fun. At this level, campers practice capsizing and righting boats so it is required that campers feel comfortable swimming in a PFD in natural/darker water.
Pre-Requisite: None
Moving Up: Taking at least 2 weeks of Learn to Sail camp and an instructor recommendation is required before moving on to the Intermediate level.
Location: Boulder Reservoir
Camp Hours: Typically Monday through Friday, 9:00AM – 3:30PM daily

What do we need to bring?
- Water
- Lunch
- Sunscreen labeled with your child’s first and last name
- Towel and change of clothes (weather changes rapidly in Colorado. Having a change of clothes and a towel works wonders when a thunderstorm rolls in and the temperature drops.)
- Close-toed shoes (old sneakers work great). For safety reasons, flip-flops are not allowed.
What if there is Inclement Weather?
We plan to sail each day of camp, weather permitting. The safety of our campers and staff is our top priority. If severe weather prevents on-water activities, we transition to sheltered STEM lessons and engaging camp games until it is safe to return to the water.
