Summer Camps

Weeklong Fullday and Half-Day Sail Camps (ages 8-17):

CSC Summer Sail Camps are the ideal course for all novice sailors as well as more advanced sailors. On a typical day, our instructors lead brief classroom discussions on the skills that will be covered. Building on that knowledge, instructors will introduce land drills where students learn skills in a safe and comfortable environment, making their on-the-water experience more effective and fun! Swimming, games and other activities are also part of the sail camp experience. Full day students are required to bring a lunch and snacks!

Cherry Creek State Park is an ideal place to learn sailing. Children will experience the exhilaration of sailing in a safe and controlled environment. Community Sailing’s classes are taught by Red Cross, U.S. Sail and Community Sailing certified instructors. Youth must know how to swim. Youth under 18 must have written proof of ability to swim 25 yards and float for 5 minutes in sailing clothes (t-shirt, bathing suit and sneakers). Instruction, sailboats and safety equipment are included.

Little Puffs (ages 5-7)

This course is designed to introduce 5-7 year olds to boats, the water, and being safe around the water. Activities will include swimming, boating, kayacking and marina safety. It’s not a formal sailing class, but rather designed build comfort around the boats and water. The focus is FUN!

Spring and Fall Programs (ages 8-17)

Summer may stop, but the sailing doesn’t! We’ll offer after school classes this fall so eager sailors can continue to build upon their skills. Keep your eyes peeled for beginner and performance boathandling courses.

Junior Race Team
Once you’ve mastered the basics, it’s time to test your skills on the racecourse. Race team members should be proficient sailors (coach approval is a prerequisite) driven to improve their skills. Race team practices will focus on advanced boathandling, race technique, tactics, rules, tuning, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Race team members are invited to sail in weeknight dinghy races and will travel to regattas around the state and even the country. Join the fun and follow our progress on

Instructor-In-Training (ages 14-18):

It is important that we continue the CSC tradition of peer teaching (kids teaching kids).  Sailing is a perfect sport for this to occur, so in addition to the natural teaching that happens when kids sail – we will also implement clear direction for those kids who want to continue teaching others.

For advanced sailors, 14 and older, who are interested in becoming a sailing instructor, there will be a mandatory two-day course in early June. Please contact our office to make sure we have your name if you are interested.  The deadline for 2010 JSIITs has passed, but please get involved for next year.

Adult Sailing

Why should the kids have all the fun?!  This summer we’ll be offering basic dinghy courses and adult racing classes.  Stay tuned for more details!

Disabled Sailing

CSC just purchased its first Access Dinghy and is excited to begin working with disabled sailors in Colorado.  More information to come.  Get excited!
