Campers learn big-boat sailing, stand-up paddleboarding, and kayak skills through fun games and challenges. Please note with a wide age range in this camp, we recommend older campers sign up with a friend or look at our Teens Only Sailing Camp.

Little Puffs Sailing Camp

Ages 5-6 | Camp Level: Foundation & Fun

For our youngest campers, these weeklong camps introduce sailing, water safety, and boating. This is a great introduction on how to have fun and be safe on the water. Sailing together as a group with the instructor and taking turns with each job in a larger Venture Keel 18 or Capri 14 sailboat, is a great way to teach the fundamentals with this age group. We understand that campers this age may not be strong swimmers so we recommend that they come feeling comfortable in and around natural water such as lakes and reservoirs, have experience and feel confident floating where they can’t touch with a PFD on, and have emerging skills in kicking and paddling in an intended direction.

Younger Learn to Sail Camps

This entry-level camp is perfect for beginning sailors ages 7 to 9. Campers will sail 2 or 3 to a boat in a small age-appropriate Pram sailboat. This class emphasizes learning the basics, feeling comfortable on the water, and having fun. At this level, campers practice capsizing and righting boats so it is required that campers have previous swimming experience. This includes the ability to swim in an intended direction while wearing a PFD for 25 meters (width of a standard pool) and being comfortable in and around natural water such as lakes and reservoirs.

Moving Up: Taking at least 2 weeks of Learn to Sail camp is required before moving on to the Intermediate level.

Intermediate Solo Sailing Camp

Ages 8-13 | Camp Level: Intermediate

Start sailing solo! This camp is perfect for anyone who has had at least 2 weeks of any Learn to Sail Camp, has an instructor recommendation, OR has previous experience sailing solo. Sailors will develop independence on the water in their own RS Tera sailboat. The goals of this camp include tacking, jibing, sail trim, all points of sail, boat handling, knot tying, and efficient capsize recovery. Returning Intermediate campers can graduate to a larger sail for a more challenging experience in order to safely prepare them for the next step.

Moving Up: Taking at least 2 weeks of an Intermediate level camp is required before moving on to the Advanced level. This camp can be taken as many times as needed before getting an instructor recommendation to move on to Advanced.

Advanced 420 Sailing Camp

Ages 12-17 | Camp Level: Advanced

This camp is perfect for anyone who has had at least 2 weeks of Intermediate Camp, or has previous experience sailing a c420 sailboat. Campers at this level are ready to take on the challenges of a larger “double-handed” (2-person) c420 sailboat. While sailing with a partner, campers will focus on boat handling, right of way, and sailing in all conditions under control. Campers are able to hone skills needed in a more challenging boat while increasing efficiency in all aspects of sailing to prepare for Expert-level classes.

Moving Up: Campers need 1 week of Advanced 420 Camp, at least 4 weeks of camp total, and an instructor recommendation to move on to the Expert Sailing Camp.

This camp is for sailors who have had at least 1 week of Advanced 420 Sailing Camp OR previous experience sailing c420s. Utilizing a fleet of double-handed boats, campers will continue to hone in expert skills. With a mainsail, jib, and spinnaker, this class focuses on the skills needed to juggle all three sails successfully.
