For many people, thoughts of summer probably include two things: sun and water. Whether it’s frolicking in the sun and surf at the lake or beach, running through the sprinklers in the backyard, contemplating life’s mysteries while casting a line out to fish, or gliding through the waves on a sailboat or paddleboard, the sun and water combination is one of the summer’s greatest pleasures.
While there are many fun summer activities, learning to sail or paddleboard doesn’t just deliver hours of fun in the water; it merges adventure, life skills, health benefits, and fun into an invaluable experience.
In addition to the many physical benefits of water sports, studies show that exposure to the water and being in nature is also advantageous for mental health. For example, one recent study found that therapeutic sailing positively affected veterans suffering from psychiatric and substance use disorders.

Entry-Level Sailing Camps for Kids
Entry-level sailing camps provide children as young as five (Little Puffs Sailing Camp) to seventeen (Learn to Sail Camp) with an introduction to the fun and rewards of sailing. Students learn sailing basics, including essential water safety skills and a long list of positive benefits in a fun environment.
Advanced Sailing Camps
Four sailing camps are available for kids from intermediate to advanced levels. Campers with more experience can strengthen their sailing skills and learn how to sail solo, handling all that’s entailed, including tacking, jibing, sail trim, knot tying, capsize recovery, etc. Advanced sailing camp builds on the experience learned in intermediate camp, teaching students how to sail in all conditions and skipper responsibilities.
Two advanced camps are available for campers ready to step up their game and take the challenge of sailing to the next level. Advanced Solo Sailing Camp and Advanced Double-Handed Sailing Camp provide an opportunity for sailors who want to hone their sailing skills on a single-handed one-person boat or a double-handed two-person boat.
Race Camp and Summer Race Team Clinics
Young sailors with a competitive spirit can learn the basics of sailboat racing and the camaraderie of being part of a team at Race Camp. Weekly clinics pave the way for racers to fine-tune their skills and participate in practice and local regattas.
Two combo camps are available for those who want to experience multiple water sports. Campers can get a taste of windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding, and kayaking, or try their hand at stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and sailing at our combo camps, depending on the location.
Community Sailing Programs
Adults and Family Sailing Programs
The water fun doesn’t end with camp! Adults and families can learn to sail or expand their sailing knowledge with evening clinics and classes.
Youth organizations can enjoy a sail with instructors and volunteers to introduce them to the joys of sailing. This program is designed to open doors and build awareness to those who may not otherwise have access to sailing.
Our Adaptive Sailing program enables people with physical and cognitive disabilities to experience the freedom and exhilaration of sailing. The program provides safe, accessible, and rewarding sailing experiences to individuals with disabilities, their friends, families, and caregivers.
